Account#
Overview#
Account is where you can manage your accounts for our software. Every user is required to have a valid account in order to unlock the other forms of the software, and we highly recommend you to log into your account before you do anything with the software. Account supports registering a new account, logging in to an existing account, resetting password for an existing account, resetting security questions for an existing account, and retrieving username or password in case you forget it. You will need to have a valid email address to take actions in Account.
Register an Account#
In this section, we will show you how to register and get a license for our software. To obtain a license, you need to input your email address, set username and new password and enter security questions, along with the activation code we send to your email address. Then, you can use your username and password to log in and use the software on up to three devices.
Here is a step-by-step example of how to register an account as a new user.
Open Finplicity, and then click Account. The form will appear, as shown below.
Click “Login,” and then click “New user? Please register.” And you will see the form as shown below.
In the form Step 1, enter the email address you would like to user to register the account, and fill in a username.
Now you have completed Step 1, click “Register” to proceed. And you will see the form as shown below.

In the form Step 2, set your password and confirm your password. Then, enter the email code sent to your email. You will receive an email as show below.

Now you have completed Step 2, click “Submit” to proceed. And you will see the form as shown below.
In the form Step 3, set your security questions and corresponding answers.
Now you have finished all the required fields in the form, and you can click “Submit” to register your account. Then you will see an information box as below telling you that you have successfully registered an account and can log in.
Click “OK” in the information box. And it will automatically lead you to the login page. From there, you can log in using your new account.
Log in to the Account#
In this section, we will show you how to log in to your account after obtaining a new account following the previous example.
Here is a step-by-step example of how to log in to your account.
Open Finplicity, and then click Account. The form will appear, as shown below.
Click “Login.” And you will see the form as shown below.
Complete the form by entering your username and password. As for Device Name, if you have logged in to this account using your current device before, the device name would be automatically filled in, and it is the same as the device name you set last time, and this field is gray. If it is the first time that you log in to this account using your current device, you could either use the default device name or rename it by clicking on the field to type in what you want it to be. The form looks like below after your complete all the three fields.
Now you have completed the form, click “Submit.” You will see the pop-up message box as shown below.
Click “OK” in the message box. And you will see the login page as shown below.
Now you have successfully logged in to your account. You can start building your projects.
Reset the Account Password#
In this section, we will show you how to reset your account password. Before going through the example, please make sure you have a valid account with a valid email address.
Here is a step-by-step example of how to reset the password for an account.
Open Finplicity, and then click Account. The form will appear, as shown below.
Click “Login.” And you will see the form as shown below.
Complete the form by entering your username and password, then click “Submit.” You will see the pop-up message box as shown below.
Click “OK” in the message box. And you will see the login page as shown below.
Click “Reset Password?” You will see a second form as shown below.

In the form Step 1, fill in your username.
Now you have completed Step 1, click “Reset Password.” And you will see the form Step 2 as shown below.

In the form Step 2, fill in your email code, you will receive an email as show below.

Now you have completed Step 2, click “Submit.” And you will see the form Step 3 as shown below

Enter the answers to all the security questions. Now you have completed Step 3, click “Submit.” And you will see the form Step 4 as shown below.

In the form Step 4, enter the new password, reenter to confirm it, and enter in the email code sent to your email address.
Now you have completed Step 4, click “Submit.” You will see an information box as below which tells you that you’ve successfully reset your password.

Click “OK” on the information box, and you will be led to the login page to log in using your username and new password. Now you have finished all the steps to reset your password. You will also receive an email notification as shown below.

Reset the Account Security Questions#
In this section, we will show you how to reset your account security questions. Before going through the example, please make sure you have a valid account with a valid email address.
Here is a step-by-step example of how to reset the security questions for an account. Step 1 to 4 are exactly the same as what you need to do to “Reset the Account Password.” So we will skip those steps in this example.
Following Step 1 to Step 4 in the “Reset the Account Password” section.
Click “Reset Security Questions?” You will see a second form as shown below.
In the form Step 1, fill in your username and password.
Now you have completed Step 1, click “Submit.” And you will see the form Step 2 as shown below.
In the form Step 2, select the new security questions you want to set and enter the answers for them, and enter the email code sent to your email address, you will receive an email as show below.

Now you have completed Step 2, click “Submit.” You will see an information box as below which tells you that you’ve successfully reset your security questions.
Click “OK” on the information box, and you will be led to the login page. Now you have finished all the steps to reset your security questions. You will also receive an email notification as shown below.

Forget the Account Username#
In this section, we will show you what to do if you forget the account username and thus can’t log in to your account. Before going through the example, please make sure you know the valid email address that is associated with the account.
Here is a step-by-step example of how to retrieve the username for an account.
Open Finplicity, and then click Account. The form will appear, as shown below.
Click “Login.” And you will see the form as shown below.
Click “Forgot your username?” And you will see the form as shown below.
Enter the email address you used to register the account.
Click “Submit.” And you will see an information box saying “Email sent” as shown below.
Now you are expected to receive an email containing the username of your account. And you will be automatically led to the login page to log into your account.
Forget the Account Password#
In this section, we will show you what to do if you forget the account password and thus can’t log in to your account. Before going through the example, please make sure you know the valid email address that is associated with the account.
Here is a step-by-step example of how to retrieve the username for an account.
Open Finplicity, and then click Account. The form will appear, as shown below.
Click “Login.” And you will see the form as shown below.
Click “Forgot your password?” And you will see the form as shown below.

In the form Step 1, fill in your username.
Now you have completed Step 1, click “Reset Password.” And you will see the form Step 2 as shown below.

In the form Step 4, enter the new password, reenter to confirm it, and enter in the email code sent to your email address.
Now you have completed Step 4, click “Submit.” You will see an information box as below which tells you that you’ve successfully reset your password.

Click “OK” on the information box, and you will be led to the login page to log in using your username and new password. Now you have finished all the steps to reset your password. You will also receive an email notification as shown below.

Adjust the Device List When Maximum Number of Devices is Reached#
In this section, we will show you what to do if you want to log in to your account using a fourth device, while the maximum number has been reached for an account. Before going through the example, please make sure you have a valid account.
Here is a step-by-step example of how to discard an old device associated with an account and add the new device.
Open Finplicity, and then click Account. The form will appear, as shown below.
Click “Login.” And you will see the form as shown below.
Fill in username, password and device name on the above form, and click “Submit.” Now, you will see the form has several more lines, which asks you to deactivate one of your existing devices before logging in using your current device. This only happens if you have already logged in to this account with three different devices, and you are trying to log in using a fourth account.

Select one of the existing devices and click “Deactivate.” You will see a pop-up information box telling you that the device is successfully deactivated.
Now you have one available spot to add your current device. Please refer to the second example Log in to the Account to log in using your current device.
